The plate shows four magnificent moth species with their caterpillars and pupal stages. The large moth in the center stands out with its bright red coloration and striking eyespots. The other species display various color and pattern variations from grayish-white to olive green. Moths of these families are widespread throughout Europe and their caterpillars feed on various deciduous and coniferous trees. By Joseph Brodtmann.
