Seligmann was a German engraver, illustrator and art dealer from Nuremberg. Originally engraved by George Edwards in his works 'A Natural History of Uncommon Birds' and 'Gleanings of Natural History' Michael Seligmann re-engraved the plates and combined it with Catesby's work 'A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands' translating the names into German and adding some figures and plants not present in the originals.
