In the Bosphorus, half a mile from the coast, at Santo Stefano near Constantinople, a huge shark pounced against the light boat on which two English were, and slashed it aft. Entangled with his head, to free himself he started to shake the boat furiously, and the two English, who had clung to the bow in the terrible situation, managed to save themselves by miracle reaching a swimming the shore.
