When German Citizen were expelled from Czechoslovakia after unconditional surrender all kids were forced to remain with their relatives in Czechoslovakia. The Czech authorities finally accepted the numerous applications of the parents for the return of their children. Leading officials of the Red Cross hope that transports with returning German children from Czechoslovakia will never more stopped. Our Picture Shows: Maria Fuchs, 11 years, who lost an eye and one arm in connection with an air raid. Further along the Milky Way is the astonishing Carina nebula, which is home to eta Carinae, probably the most massive star known, and a prime candidate for the next Galactic supernova. The two-year old chimp, Midge, wearing a white satin frock with frilly underwear - handed a lucky horseshoe to the bride, Miss Hazel Sixsmith, outside the church door. Then Midge kissed the bride and tried to kiss the bridegroom, Mr. David Harrison. After the ceremony at the Saviour's Church, Bolton (Lancs), the vicar, the Rev. Ernest Broadbent, said:” More than twenty Parishioners have complained about the chimp. “I was not told about it before the ceremony.” The bride and groom, both of Bolton, wer3e last night on honeymoon in Blackpool. Mr. Harrison said: “There was nothing vulgar about the chimp being at the wedding- t was never in the church.” Midge got an official invitation to the wedding, said Mr. Charles Charlton, Senior, who employs the bridegroom as manager of a Bury pet shop. Galaxy cluster Abell 1689 - Gravitational lenses in Abell 1689 galaxy cluster - Galaxy cluster Abell 1689 is about 2.2 billion years ago - light in the constellation of the Virgin. This image shows, by a gravitational mirage effect, the deformed image of many galaxies located behind the cluster. Near infrared and visible image obtained by the Hubble space telescope in June 2002. 13 hours of installation. This representative color image is a composite of visible - light and near - infrared exposures taken in June 2002. Hubble peered straight through the center of one of the most massive galaxy clusters known, called Abell 1689. This required that Hubble gaze at the remote cluster, located 2.2 billion light - years away, for over 13 hours. The gravity of the cluster's trillion stars - - plus dark matter - - acts as a 2 - million - light - year - wide “” lens”” in space. This “” gravitational lens””” bends and magnifies the light of galaxies located far behind it. Although much more analysis is needed, Hubble astronomers speculate that some of the faintest objects in the picture are probably over 13 billion light - years away (redshift value 6). In the image hundreds of galaxies many billions of light - years away are smeared by the gravitational bending of light into a spider - web tracing of blue and red arcs of light. Though gravitational lensing has been studied previously with Hubble and ground - based telescopes, this phenomenon has never been seen before in such detail. The ACS picture reveals 10 times more arcs than would be seen by a ground - based telescope. The ACS is 5 times more sensitive and provides pictures that are twice as sharp as the previous work - horse Hubble cameras. So it can see the very faintest arcs with greater clarity. The picture presents an immense jigsaw puzzle for Hubble astronomers to spend months untangling.
