(1904-1990)<br> Dring’s work is loyal to the classical tradition propagated by artists such as Harold Harvey and Harold Knight, displaying both skilful draftsmanship and an expert handling of light effects. Three elements: strong light, an attention to the figure within its surroundings and an ability to realise the dignity of daily pursuits recur throughout Dring’s paintings.<br> <br> Dring’s social conscience, and his respect for the worker, contribute to the balance between the romantic and the prosaic which we find in his art.
