Achille Emile Othon Friesz was a French painter born in Le Havre in 1879. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Le Havre and later in Paris, where he became friends with Henri Matisse and André Derain. Friesz was a member of the Fauvist movement, known for their use of bold colors and expressive brushstrokes. He exhibited his work at the Salon d'Automne in 1905 and 1906, and his paintings were well received by critics.
