Hazel Florez's paintings act as portals to Otherworlds, which dispense with the logical and predictable order of things. Her interest in folklore, mythology, mystical symbolism, hermeticism and alchemy, informs her practice through the study of different esoteric philosophies. She is influenced by many of the twentieth century female surrealists and has a curiosity with the world of dreams, the subconscious and Jungian archetypes.
