Guy Beggs was born in Durban, South Africa. He studied fine art at Maidstone College of Art, The Royal Academy Schools, and Goldsmiths College, London. He taught at Wimbledon School of Art and the Sir John Cass School of Art where he became head of fine art and then dean of the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Media and Design.
