Raina Goran is a contemporary British artist whose practice is
rooted in a response to the energy and rhythm of the city and
urban landscape. Working primarily in acrylic and collage, she
creates abstract compositions using torn, hand-painted papers to
form layered patterns of vivid colour and dynamic shape. Her work
seeks to evoke the essence and atmosphere of place, rather than
direct representation.

Trained in Illustration at Wimbledon School of Art, Raina Goran
brings a strong sense of design and composition to her visual
language. A successful career as a Creative Director in the
greeting card industry has further refined her instinct for colour,
storytelling, and balance—qualities that continue to inform her
artistic approach.
Influenced by artists such as Barbara Rae, David Hockney, and
Henri Matisse, Raina shares her affinity for bold colour and
expressive form. Goran’s work has been widely exhibited and is
held in private collections across the UK.
In 2024, Raina Goran was elected an Associate Member of the
Royal Watercolour Society and received the St Cuthbert Mill
Award for All Works on Paper from the Chelsea Art Society. She
was previously awarded the David Gluck Memorial Prize by the
RWS in 2022. Notable commissions include a project for Network
Rail.
Her work is regularly shown through galleries and curated group
exhibitions including the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS), New
English Art Club (NEAC), Society of Women Artists (SWA), Royal
Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI), Chelsea Art Society,
Linden Hall Studio and shortlisted for Jackson’s Painting Prize.
Through an evolving art practice, Raina Goran continues to
explore the tension between structure and spontaneity—capturing
fleeting moments of visual poetry in shape, texture, and colour. ...
