Frances was born in Manchester. She studied at Staffordshire
University gaining a 2.1 BA in Fine Art, followed by an MA at
Birmingham City University.
Frances has worked in art education at many levels from lecturing at BA
to independent adult education classes. She worked for many years as
an A level and GCSE level Art moderator and also wrote art exams and
courses for several exam boards.
Frances has two grown up children and lives, with her partner, in the
beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands, on the edge of the Peak District.

and light. It aims to capture the changing seasons in the artist’s garden
and surrounding landscape.
Her influences are the Impressionists, Post Impressionists and Abstract
Expressionists so she likes to describe herself as an ‘Abstract
Impressionist’.
Frances’s painting often delights in the pure joy of our world and she
sees this almost as a politcal act of defiance in these times which can
seem so dark and she likes to think of her work as an antidote to gloom.
