Charles Reutlinger (1816-88) was a French photographer and lithographer who gained fame for his portraits of notable figures in the 19th century. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, Reutlinger moved to Paris in 1839 and began working as a lithographer. He later became interested in photography and opened his own studio in 1850. Reutlinger quickly gained a reputation for his portraits, which were known for their clarity and attention to detail. He photographed many famous people of his time, including writers, artists, and politicians.
