Sophie Taeuber-Arp was a Swiss artist and designer born in 1889. She studied at the School of Applied Arts in St. Gallen and later at the School of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg. Taeuber-Arp was a pioneer of geometric abstraction and was associated with the Dada movement. She worked in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, textiles, and furniture design. Taeuber-Arp was also a skilled dancer and choreographer, and her work often incorporated movement and rhythm. She was married to the artist Jean Arp and the two collaborated on many projects.
