Wayne Thiebaud was an American painter born in Mesa, Arizona in 1920. He is best known for his colorful and realistic paintings of everyday objects such as cakes, pies, and hot dogs. Thiebaud studied at the Sacramento State College and later at the San Jose State University. He worked as a commercial artist before becoming a professor of art at the University of California, Davis. Thiebaud's work is often associated with the Pop Art movement, although he has always maintained that he is not a Pop artist.
