Elizabeth Barakah Hodges is an English literature-professor-turned-artist. She calls this transformation "serendipity."
While she works with a variety of subjects, women at work and Jewish life are among her favorites. She contends her spirituality profoundly affects her paintings, and she enjoys depicting people from the rich tapestry of cultures within her community.
"I want to help bring into being the world I want to live in," she says, "which includes all people. The subject of my art is always something I feel connected to emotionally.
