Maximilien Luce was a French painter born in Paris in 1858. He was a prominent figure in the Neo-Impressionist movement and was known for his use of pointillism. Luce studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was influenced by the works of Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, and his paintings often depicted scenes of everyday life, landscapes, and industrial settings. Luce was also a political activist and was involved in the anarchist movement. He was a member of the French Communist Party and his political beliefs were reflected in his art.
