An Artist from London, I work with collage and mixed media to realise my ideas which are an abstract examination of our connection with the universe.
Looking back now, little did I know the pivotal moment I chose my life’s mission would be on viewing Escher’s image ‘Libellula’ (Dragonfly) age 14. Sitting in Art class with a retrospective book on Escher, I examined the particular image of the etched dragonfly becoming engrossed in the details within the wing itself, consisting of natural symmetries and forms. This was my artistic awakening of what would become a lifelong exploration into what I would study and how I would observe and relate what my minds eye beheld with the world around me.
With time this initial fascination into natural elements expanded to include those as replicated within our artificial environment. The textures, patterns, rhythms, shapes, forms, colours, elongated, stretched, expanded, enlarged, contracted, distorted, complementary, neutral, yet still perfectly balanced. From the bouncing sea waves to the veins of autumn leaves, circular pothole covers with dotted patterns, the complementary colours of a flower and equally vibrant pops on shops.
The creative process is a game I play in which the world is my sketchbook from where I draw elements via intuitive selection, memory, spontaneity and chance to compose and recompose, the vibrance and energy I perceive, manifesting in abstract visual form.
