Edwin Landseer was a British painter and sculptor born in London in 1802. He was the son of an engraver and showed an early talent for drawing and painting. He studied at the Royal Academy and became known for his animal paintings, particularly his depictions of dogs and horses. His most famous works include "The Monarch of the Glen" and "The Lion at Home." Landseer was also a skilled sculptor and created several public monuments, including the lions at the base of Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square.
