Ellsworth Kelly (1923-2015) was an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker known for his minimalist and abstract works. Born in Newburgh, New York, Kelly studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn before serving in the Army during World War II. After the war, he studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Kelly's work is characterized by its simplicity, bold colors, and geometric shapes.
